The Host's FileKEPT NOTES · US EDITION
ENTRY NO. 12 — THE BOX BESIDE THE BOTTLE

The bottle you hand over is cold. The third glass is not. What is in the box fixes that in 10 to 15 minutes.

Nobody calls three weeks after a dinner to talk about the bottle you brought. Last month someone called me about the box I tied up next to it. This entry is what is inside it, and why that is the part people bring up later.

NOTED.
Entry 01 — The dinner

Six of us, a long table, the good glasses out. I brought a sauvignon blanc straight from the fridge and it was perfect in the first glass. Then the food came out, the conversation got good, and nobody touched the bottle for twenty minutes. By the third pour it was a different wine: flat, soft, warm. Not one person said so. Everybody drank it anyway, politely, and the host apologised for nothing in particular.

That is the part of the evening nobody plans for. You can bring a colder bottle. You cannot bring a colder table.

Entry 02 — What everyone tries first
  • Back in the fridge. It works, and it takes the bottle off the table and out of the evening. Somebody always forgets to bring it back.
  • The ice bucket. Slow from the outside in, drips across the linen, and takes the one spot on the table the food needed.
  • An insulated sleeve. A sleeve slows down what is already happening. It cannot take heat back out of wine that has warmed up.

All three work on the outside of the glass. The wine, inconveniently, is on the inside. Cold that starts around the bottle has to fight its way through the glass, and by the time it arrives you are already on the second glass. Cold that starts in the wine has no distance to travel. That is the whole difference, and it is the reason the thing in the box is three steps and not three hours.

Entry 03 — What is in the box

One kit: a cooling rod, an aerating pour spout, and a stopper. That is all of it.

STEP 1 — IT LIVES IN THE FREEZERThe rod is one sealed piece of 304 food-grade stainless steel. It needs an hour to freeze and then it simply stays in the freezer door, ready before you know you need it.
STEP 2 — IT GOES IN THE OPEN BOTTLEPull the cork or the screw cap — it fits about 99% of 750 ml bottles either way — and slide the rod down the neck. Serving temperature in 10 to 15 minutes, from the inside, right where the wine is.
STEP 3 — IT STAYS THEREBack on the table it keeps working: cold for up to three hours, no bucket, no drips. The spout aerates each pour and does not dribble down the label. Dishwasher-safe afterwards.
Kept honest: it is not a wine fridge. It goes into a bottle you have already opened, brings it to serving temperature in 10 to 15 minutes and holds it there for up to three hours. Nothing melts into the wine, so the last glass is not a watered-down one.

That is why it gets brought up three weeks later. It is not a nicer bottle, which is drunk and forgotten by Sunday. It is the thing that made the whole bottle taste the way the first glass did.

Entry 04 — Straight answers
How fast does it actually work?

Serving temperature in 10 to 15 minutes, from the inside, and then it holds the bottle there on the table for up to three hours.

Does it water the wine down?

No. It is a sealed rod of 304 food-grade stainless steel. Nothing melts into the glass, so the last pour tastes like the first one.

Metal in my wine?

One sealed piece of 304 food-grade stainless steel, the same grade as the forks on the table. No motor, no batteries, no gel, nothing to refill.

What is it for, exactly?

Whites, rosé and sparkling — anything you would serve cold. Reds can stay in the rack.

What if it is not for me?

30 days from the day it arrives, money back, no interrogation. Email contact@lindnerco.store and we send the instructions.

Is it worth it for a piece of steel?

You get two complete kits, bought once, with nothing to replace and nothing to refill. An ice bucket costs more over one summer in melted ice and ruined labels.

EMILY H.I was actually a bit skeptical at first, but the wine cooling stick has truly exceeded all my expectations. Even on warm summer days, it keeps my wine perfectly chilled for hours. I no longer need bulky ice buckets.
SOPHIE E.What a brilliant invention! Both the quality of the materials and the clever functionality make the wine cooling stick worth every penny. I’ve already bought several as gifts, it’s simply perfect!
MARK J.As someone who truly loves wine, this wine cooling stick has made a big difference for me. It keeps the wine cold for a long time and looks really elegant. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a better wine experience.
Entry 06 — Close the file
Two complete kits: the steel cooling rod, the aerating pour spout and the stopper, in the kraft gift box.
FIG. 1 — WHAT IS IN THE BOX: ROD, AERATING SPOUT, STOPPER.

Put one in the freezer before the next long table, and the third glass stops being the warm one. The second kit is the box you tie up beside the next bottle you bring — which is, as far as I can tell, the reason anyone calls three weeks later.
