The questions people ask before they buy
Is this just a gimmick?

It's the first thing most people think, and it was far and away the most common doubt in our own customer survey. Fair enough — from a photo it's a metal stick.

Here's what it actually is. A solid, food-safe stainless-steel rod that lives in your freezer. Because it goes inside the bottle instead of around it, it pulls the heat out from the middle of the wine rather than working its way in through the glass. That's the whole reason it takes minutes instead of the hour a fridge needs — and why there's no ice involved, so nothing melts into your wine and thins it out.

It isn't new science. It's the same idea as a frozen glass, done properly and sized for a bottle. What it isn't is a plastic sleeve you have to remember to freeze the day before, or an ice bucket that turns your last glass into cold water.

The honest test is what people say after the first evening they use it. It's rated 4.7 out of 5 across 1,422 reviews, and the most common review on the page is some version of "I didn't think this would work". If it doesn't do what we've said here, send it back within 30 days and we'll refund it.

How long does it actually stay cold?

Two different numbers, and we'll give you both straight.

Getting cold: the stick needs 10–15 minutes in the freezer as a minimum — longer is better, which is exactly why it just lives in there rather than going back in a drawer. Slide it into a room-temperature bottle and you're pouring something properly cold within minutes.

Staying cold: up to about three hours at the table. That's a dinner — starters through to the last glass — without the bottle going back to the fridge between pours and without an ice bucket sweating a ring into your tablecloth.

What it won't do is keep a bottle cold all afternoon in the sun, and we're not going to claim otherwise. If a bottle of wine lasts you all day, you were never the problem.

What exactly do I get?
  • 2 stainless-steel chiller sticks — food-safe, dishwasher-safe, and happiest living in the freezer.
  • 2 aerating pour spouts — clear acrylic, they twist onto the top of the stick and air the wine on the way to the glass. No drips down the label.
  • 2 bottle stoppers — to seal whatever survives the evening.
  • 30-day money-back guarantee and free UK shipping.

One kit is a stick, a spout and a stopper. Two kits arrive in the box.

Do I need to pour some wine out first?

Yes — pour your first glass, then drop the stick in. The stick takes up room in the neck, so a bottle filled right to the cork will spill over.

So the order is: pour a glass, slide the frozen stick in, twist the pour spout on top. From there you serve straight through the spout and the bottle stays on the table.

Why £29.99 when there are £4 ones online?

Because they aren't the same object. The cheap ones are hollow plastic or a thin tube of gel. They're light, and light is the problem: there's almost no cold stored in them, so they take the edge off a bottle for a few minutes and then sit there warming up alongside the wine.

Ours is solid food-safe stainless steel with a machined acrylic aerating spout. The weight is the point — it's what lets it pull a room-temperature bottle down properly and then hold it there through dinner, and it's the difference between something that lives in your freezer for years and something you bin in August.

You know this exact moment. You bought the good white for tonight, you meant to chill it after lunch — and now the guests are twenty minutes out and the bottle is standing right where you left it, the same temperature as the kitchen.

Two bad options: pour it warm and apologise, or wedge it in the freezer and hope nobody asks for wine yet. The fridge needed an hour. You have twenty minutes.

What actually saves the evening is something that was already cold before the doorbell rang.

The save was in your freezer the whole time.

The Lindner & Co Wine Chiller is a slim, food-safe stainless-steel stick that lives in your freezer — always frozen, always ready. The second you realise the bottle's warm, you drop it straight in, and the wine chills from the inside in minutes. Not the hour the fridge needs. Minutes.

How the save works

Frozen and waiting — so a warm bottle stops being an emergency.

1

It lives in the freezer

10–15 minutes in there is the minimum — longer is better. So just leave it in. Frozen and waiting is the whole point: it's ready for the dinners you forget to plan.

2

Pour a glass, drop it in

Pour your first glass, then slide the frozen stick into the bottle. It chills the wine from the inside — cold in minutes, not the hour the fridge wanted.

Pour, and host

Serve through the aerating pour spout. The bottle stays cold right on the table through dinner — and the spout airs every pour, so the wine tastes better too.

Cold for the first glass. Still cold for the last.

"As someone who truly loves wine, this wine cooling stick has made a big difference for me. It keeps the wine cold for a long time and looks really elegant. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a better wine experience."

That's the half of the rescue nobody mentions: getting the bottle cold is only round one. This keeps it cold on the table for hours — up to three, right through dinner — with no ice bucket sweating on your tablecloth and no bottle disappearing into the fridge between pours.

Why it earns its place

Five reasons it never leaves the freezer again

It's already cold before you need it

It lives in the freezer, frozen and waiting. "I forgot to chill it" stops being a panic and becomes a ten-second fix.

It chills from the inside, so it's minutes

The frozen steel sits in the middle of the wine and pulls the heat out from there — instead of the fridge slowly working its way in through the glass for an hour.

No ice, so nothing gets watered down

Nothing melts into the bottle. The last glass tastes like the first one, not like the bottom of an ice bucket.

The bottle stays on the table

Cold from the first pour to the last — up to about three hours. No bucket, no puddle on the tablecloth, no trips back to the kitchen mid-conversation.

It airs the wine as you pour

The clear acrylic spout opens the wine up on its way to the glass, so it tastes better — and pours clean, with no drips down the label.

The people most convinced by it started out doubting it.

"I was actually a bit skeptical at first, but the wine cooling stick has truly exceeded all my expectations. Even on warm summer days, it keeps my wine perfectly chilled for hours. I no longer need bulky ice buckets."

Fair — a steel stick that rescues a warm bottle sounds like a gadget, right up until the first time it saves your evening. If you've been limping along with the ice bucket and the fridge-and-hope method, it's not because you love them. It's because until now, they were the only options.

Which is exactly why the second one rarely stays in the house — everyone has that friend whose wine is somehow always warmer than the room. And if guests are already on the calendar for this weekend:
